WOODINVILLE, Wash. — A daylong workshop in January will help small-scale value-added producers bring their products to market.

Developing specialty foods such as preserves, sauces, dressings, vinegars, snacks and baked goods can be profitable, and the Northwest Agriculture Business Center will walk students through the steps to success.

The workshop will provide up-to-date information and technical knowledge of the product development process, including scaling up from the kitchen to commercial production. The course will also cover product cost calculations with real-world business examples.

Instructors are Fred Berman, project manager with the NABC, and Girish Ganjyal, food processing specialist at Washington State University.

The workshop will be from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Jan. 27 at 21 Acres, 13701 Northeast 171st St. in Woodinville. Fee is $95, which includes lunch, beverages and course packet.
