ONALASKA, Wash. (AP) -- Burnt Ridge Orchards is recalling 98 pounds of shelled hazelnuts because of salmonella risks.
In a statement on Tuesday, Burnt Ridge says the hazelnuts were sold between Nov. 17 and Dec. 14 at the Olympia Farmers' Market. The nuts were packed in 8 ounce and 16 ounce plastic bags.
The recall applies only to the company's shelled hazelnuts.
The company says no illness have been reported, but the recall was made as a result of routine sampling of the product by the Food and Drug Administration at the company, which cracks the hazelnuts for Burnt Ridge Orchards.
The processing company has ceased the production and distribution of the product as the FDA continues to investigate what caused the problem.
