Cars in Washington state can soon sport wine-themed license plates.

A new Washington wine-themed license plate is now available through the Washington State Department of Licensing. The plate features a scenic wine country landscape with vineyards on Horse Heaven Hills overlooking the Columbia River.

Last year, Rep. Kelly Chambers, R-Puyallup, sponsored House Bill 1530, which allowed the creation of the new $40 wine-themed license plate. Nearly 4,000 Washingtonians signed a petition in support of the specialty plate, and Gov. Jay Inslee signed the bill into law last March.

All funds generated from sales of the plate will go to State of Washington Tourism, a nonprofit aimed at promoting tourism in the state.

“I am thrilled to see this beautiful wine license plate become a reality,” said Chambers.
