OLYMPIA — The former Washington Farm Labor Association, now known as WAFLA, is holding H-2A visa guestworker workforce summits in Washington and Oregon and its annual labor conference.
WAFLA is the largest labor contractor of H-2A foreign guestworkers on the West Coast.
The workforce summits will cover several topics including new sources of workers, shared and sequential H-2A visa programs and the future of guestworker programs. Summits will be held from: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Jan. 26 at the Student Union Building of Central Washington University in Ellensburg, Wash.; and from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Jan. 31 at Clackamas Hall, Clackamas County Fairgrounds, Canby, Ore; and 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Feb. 1 at Four Rivers Cultural Center, Ontario, Ore.
The labor conference is Feb. 23 at the Yakima Convention Center. Topics include union resurgence, labor trends, immigration update and Brad Worthley, author and business consultant, talking about increasing efficiency and productivity.
