SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. (AP) -- It's easier for residents of the Spokane Valley to keep chickens in their backyards.

After months of debate, the city council voted Tuesday night to allow chickens on smaller properties.

KXLY reports people with yards as small as 2,000 square feet can raise a chicken. That's down from the previous requirement of 40,000 square feet.
