Esser named interim director of WSU cereal variety testing program

Aaron Esser will lead Washington State University's cereal variety testing program until a director is hired. Esser is director of WSU's Adams County Extension in Ritzville.

Esser assumed the role of interim director Feb. 1, according to Washington State University. He replaces Ryan Higginbotham, who departs Feb. 8 for a job in private industry. Higginbotham assumed the job in 2014.

Esser is regional economist and director of WSU’s Adams County Extension. He will continue in his current roles and work with testing program staff to implement 2018 field trials and tours, and ensure a smooth transition of the program to the new director.

WSU will begin a search for the new director of the program this spring.
