Oregon Dairy Women to crown new ambassador in January

The Oregon Dairy Women will be host the 53rd annual Oregon Dairy Princess-Ambassador Coronation Banquet on Saturday, Jan. 14, 2012, at the Red Lion Hotel, 3301 Market St. NE, Salem, Ore.

Attendees will be able to meet and greet Jessica Budge, the 2011 Oregon dairy princess-Ambassador, and the 2012 ambassador finalists at a cheese reception beginning at 5:30 p.m. with the banquet immediately following.

The 2012 finalists will be introduced and make speeches during the event. Budge will deliver her farewell presentation, scholarship awards will be announced and the evening will close with the crowning of the 2012 Oregon Dairy Princess-Ambassador.

The 2010 finalists are eight young women who have been representing their county in Oregon promoting dairy products, educating the public about nutrition and enlightening their community about life on a dairy farm at local schools, fairs and events.

The deadline to order tickets, at $35 per person, is Jan. 6, 2012 from the Oregon Dairy Women at 503-357-9152. A child's meal is also available for $15 per child. No tickets will be sold at the door.

If tickets are available after Jan. 6, they will be sold on a first come first served basis for $50 each.

The finalists for 2012, with the county the currently represent are: Teri McGettigan, Columbia County; Kara Hansen, Lane County; Sadie Tempel, Linn and Benton counties; Madeleine Coleman, Marion County; Bergen Rueck, Multnomah County; Kristen Kaste, Tillamook County; Cheyanne Heesacker, Washington County; and Brittany Steele, Yamhill County.
