The Willamette Valley Agriculture Association produces the annual Willamette Valley Ag Expo in Albany, at the Linn County Fairgrounds. The 19th year of the event is coming up this November on the 12th through the 14th.

The Association was formed to promote agriculture trade and provide education to the agriculture industry. The Willamette Valley Ag Expo features nearly 200 vendors of goods and services plus training such as CORE pesticide classes, forklift certification and presentations on current issues and trends.

The expo has had steady growth and sustained a low cost to vendors and attendees, including free workshops. The expo is the largest of its kind in the Pacific Northwest, encompassing all buildings plus outdoor space at the Linn County Fairgrounds, exceeding 190,000 square feet in trade show area.

In 2009 the association established the annual scholarship to support students pursuing a career in Agriculture Production. Since that time the association has funded over $50,000 in annual scholarships with the current annual level at $8,000.

The association has also granted funds for various youth programs such as FFA greenhouses and 4H show pens for County Fair. The Linn County Fair & Expo Center has received funds that were used to improve electrical, add doors and enlarge doors to assure equipment access.

In addition to the annual scholarship fund and grants, the association offers Youth Agriculture classes a transportation stipend to offset the cost of schools sending students to the expo on the Youth Day which takes place on the Wednesday of the event each year. (November 13, 2019) 4H, FFA, high school and collegiate agriculture programs are invited to attend the expo at no charge.

“The board of directors has always been keenly interested in providing incentive to the future ag leaders and producers and the Youth Ag Day at the expo is just one of their priorities,” said Jill Ingalls, association manager.
