BOISE (July 3, 2019) The Idaho Cattle Association is pleased to welcome Shane Kerner who will be serving the association as Membership Coordinator.
Shane Kerner is the daughter of Bruce Kerner and the late Julie Cahill-Kerner. Shane grew up on her family’s commercial cow calf, yearling stockers and custom backgrounding feedlot located in Weiser, Idaho.
Spending time on the ranch quickly grew into a lifelong passion of hers. With the help of her first FSA Youth Loan, Shane ran commercial grass calves which soon funded the foundation to build her own registered Angus herd. Selling purebred Angus bulls to local commercial cattlemen not only sparked her interest in genetics but also the importance of cross breeding for production from both a seedstock and commercial cattleman’s standpoint.
Shane attended the University of Idaho and transferred to Kansas State University to complete her degree in Animal Science with an emphasis in Production. While attending Kansas State, Shane served as the Vice Chairman of the National Junior Angus Association.
After completing college, Shane returned home to help on the family ranch and focused primarily on feedlot production.
If you have questions about membership or know of someone who would like to join the Idaho Cattle Association, be sure to get ahold of Shane and start the conversation. She will be happy to answer and assist with your membership questions and needs.
