NEW ORLEANS, January 12, 2019 – The American Farm Bureau Federation is partnering in a new donation drive with Ronald McDonald House Charities to raise $100,000 in honor of AFBF’s Centennial. The announcement was made at the annual meeting of the American Farm Bureau Women during AFBF’s 100th Annual Convention.
“Ronald McDonald House Charities have a great impact on families during difficult times and we look forward to our partnership helping to make those times a little easier,” said Sherry Saylor, chair of the AFB Women’s Leadership Committee and a row crop farmer from Arizona.
The AFB Women’s Leadership Committee, Louisiana Farm Bureau Women’s Leadership Committee and state Farm Bureau Women’s Leadership Committees kicked off the donation drive on Jan. 12 with $5,000 in monetary and in-kind donations. More information about the partnership and how to donate and host events for Ronald McDonald Houses will be provided in the coming weeks. Houses allow families to access specialized medical treatment for their children by providing a place to stay at little or no cost.
The connection between Farm Bureau and Ronald McDonald House Charities was forged in the mid-1990s. Since then, Farm Bureau members have donated millions of dollars in food and monetary contributions to Ronald McDonald Houses and other charities.
Saylor, in her address to the American Farm Bureau Women, emphasized the importance of collaboration in efforts such as the new partnership with Ronald McDonald House Charities.
“Teamwork is the fuel that allows common people to attain uncommon results,” Saylor said. “I am so glad to be on your team as we enter this year together.”
In other news, Saylor announced that two sessions of Women’s Communications Boot Camp will be held in 2019. June 18-21 and Oct. 22-25 are the dates for this premier training, which offers women the opportunity to take their leadership skills to the next level.
