The Idaho Irrigation Equipment Association (IIEA) has awarded $22,000 in scholarships to 34 students for the 2018-2019 school year. These students were selected because of academic accomplishments, leadership and career goals. Some are children or grandchildren of IIEA members. The IIEA has awarded 733 scholarships totaling $446,500 since 1980. Twelve of the students are the children or grandchildren of IIEA members and one student is an employee of an IIEA member business. They are designated with an asterisk (*) next to their names. These are the scholarship recipients for this school year.

Jordan Allender, daughter of Kendra Pennington and Kevin Allender, Middleton, received a $500 scholarship to pursue her degree in Natural Resources at Treasure Valley Community College. Allender’s scholarship was donated by Nelson Irrigation Corp. Agri-Lines Irrigation sponsored Allender.

Lauren Anderson, daughter of Tricia Callaway and Larry Anderson, Boise, received a $500 scholarship to pursue her degree in Agribusiness at the University of Idaho. Anderson’s scholarship was donated by Spears Manufacturing and Pipeco.

*Lauren Axness, daughter of Dan and Cheryl Axness, Boise, received a $600 scholarship to pursue her degree in Sound Engineering/Theatre at Boise State University. Axness’s scholarship was donated by the IIEA. Idaho Power Co. sponsored Axness.

Dallas Baker, son of Loren and Janette Baker, Burley, received a $500 scholarship to pursue his degree in Agriculture Technology at Brigham Young University-Idaho. Baker’s scholarship was donated by Rain Bird Agri Products Division and the IIEA. Butte Irrigation sponsored Baker.

Eric Ball, son of Bernie and Rita Ball, Kuna, received an $800 scholarship to pursue his degree in Crop Management and Agribusiness at the University of Idaho. Ball’s scholarship was donated by Fresno Valves & Castings and Interstate Plastic Inc. The Nampa branch of Rain For Rent sponsored Ball.

Cody Barrie, son of Mark and Peggy Barrie, Idaho Falls, received a $500 scholarship to pursue his degree in Mechanical Engineering at Utah State University. Barrie’s scholarship was donated by Buckner Superior. The Idaho Falls branch of Rain For Rent sponsored Barrie.

*Carson Barry, son of Ryan Barry and Angela Tigue, Eagle, and grandson of Gordon Barry, received a $500 scholarship to pursue his business degree at Oregon State. Barry’s scholarship was donated by the IIEA. Pipeco sponsored Barry.

Ross Blattner, son of Jack and Lori Blattner, Kuna, received a $500 scholarship to pursue his degree in Agriculture Systems Management at the University of Idaho. Blattner’s scholarship was donated by T-L Irrigation and The Navigator. Robertson Supply Inc. sponsored Blattner.

Janae Chandler, daughter of Lloyd and Barbara Chandler, Rigby, received a $500 scholarship to pursue her degree in Horticulture at Brigham Young University-Idaho. Chandler’s scholarship was donated by G&S Sales Inc. Silver Creek Supply sponsored Chandler.

Madison Crawford, daughter of Glenda Knight and Clay Crawford, Shoshone, received a $500 scholarship to pursue her degree in Agribusiness at the College of Southern Idaho. Crawford’s scholarship was donated by Don’s Irrigation. Don’s Irrigation sponsored Crawford.

Auguste Curtis, daughter of Jeanette Fuller and Larry Curtis, Twin Falls, received a $500 scholarship to pursue her degree in Agribusiness at the University of Idaho. Curtis’ scholarship was donated by Butte Irrigation, Ag Sales, and the IIEA. Layne Pumps Inc. sponsored Curtis.

*Kyle Daniels, son of Dan and Teresa Daniels, Chubbuck, received a $600 scholarship to pursue his degree in Radiographic Science at Idaho State University. Daniels’ scholarship was donated by A&G Irrigation and the IIEA. Daniels is an employee at WISH Northwest.

Chrystal Godfrey, daughter of Lex and Rachelle Godfrey, Rigby and previously Burley, received a $600 scholarship to pursue her degree in Agribusiness at Utah State University. Godfrey’s scholarship was donated by Lindsay Corporation and Layne PumpsInc. Butte Irrigation sponsored Godfrey.

Rachel Gross, daughter of Doug and Joyce Gross, Nampa, received a $600 scholarship to pursue a Masters of Plant Science degree at the University of Idaho. Gross’ scholarship was donated by Komet Irrigation and Irrigation Accessories Company (IACO). Evergreen Sprinkler Supply sponsored Gross.

Andrew Gutierrez, son of Rick and Sharon Gutierrez, Nampa, received a $500 scholarship to pursue his degree in` Agricultural Food and Business Economics at Washington State University. *Jared Holliday, son of Brad and Lisa Holliday, Madras, Ore. received a $500 scholarship to pursue his degree in Legal Studies at Grand Canyon University. Holliday’s scholarship was donated by the IIEA. Jain Irrigation sponsored Holliday.

Kyle Isham, son of Darren Isham and Stephanie Isham, Howe, received a $500 scholarship to participate in the Plant Science Graduate Program at the University of Idaho. Isham’s scholarship was donated by Lake Company. The Idaho Falls branch of Rain For Rent sponsored Isham.

*Justin Nesbitt, son of Quentin and Julie Nesbitt, Eagle, received a $1,500 scholarship to pursue his degree in Biological and Agricultural Engineering at the University of Idaho. Nesbitt’s scholarship was donated by Butte Irrigation and friends in memory of Ty Bedke, an employee of Butte Irrigation and son of Trace and Sheri Bedke, who left this world and this industry too soon. Preston Searle, son of Ron and Dayle Searle, Shelley, received a $500 scholarship to pursue his degree in Agribusiness at Brigham Young University-Idaho. Searle’s scholarship was donated by Senninger Irrigation and Inman InterWest Inc. 2M Company sponsored Searle.

Bailey Storms, daughter of Kevin and Honore Storms, Idaho Falls, received a $700 scholarship to pursue her degree in Ag Economics and Agribusiness at the University of Idaho. Dustin Winston, son of Stoney and Brooke Winston, Middleton, received a $700 scholarship to pursue his degree in Agricultural Economics at the University of Idaho. Winston’s scholarship was donated by Matco-Norca and the IIEA. The Nampa branch of Rain For Rent sponsored Winston.

The IIEA’s Scholarship Program received the Idaho Governor’s Award for Excellence in Agriculture in the Education/Advocacy category at the 2012 Larry Branen Idaho Ag Summit. The IIEA was established in 1971 and membership consists of more than 115 separate entities including wholesale suppliers, retail dealers, equipment manufacturers and public utilities engaged in serving Idaho’s agricultural and landscape irrigation equipment needs.
