Comments: Monday’s feeder special featured 800 head, with a good run of calves and yearlings, and a solid run of cull cows. Slaughter cows were 2-3 cents lower, with a top price of 72 cents per pound, and an average price of 63 cents per pound. Cull bulls brought 82 cents, with an average of 78 cents per pound. Demand for light calves has risen along with the temperature, and we should see that continue as we come into grass. 400-500 weight steers topped out at $183.75, with an average price of $177.38. Same weight heifers brought $166.00, with an average price of $150.91. 600-700 weight steers brought $156.00, with an average price of $156.47, while same weight heifers brought $136.00, with an average of $126.00. We had a good young set of Angus cow calf pairs on Monday, topping out at $1600.00 per pair, with an average price of $1538.24. Next Monday, March 8 will be a regular cattle sale, and our next feeder special will be Monday, March 15.
