CASH SOFT WHITE WHEAT
Pacific Northwest: Bids for U.S. 1 Soft White Wheat, delivered by unit trains and barges to Portland during December ended the reporting week on Thursday, Dec. 19, at $6.7075-6.9575, mostly $6.8325. Bids were 18 to 23 cents per bushel lower than Dec. 12 bids for December delivery of $6.9375-7.1375, mostly $7.0375. White club wheat premiums for this week and last week ranged from zero to 50 cents per bushel, mostly 25 cents.
One year ago bids for U.S. 1 Soft White Wheat and white club wheat for December delivery were $8.5075-8.5575, mostly $8.5325. Nearby bids for U.S. 1 Soft White wheat began the reporting week on Dec. 13 at mostly $6.9875 then moved lower on Dec. 16 to mostly $6.9175 before moving slightly higher to mostly $6.9225 on Dec. 17. On Dec. 18, bids moved lower again to mostly $6.8525 and ended the reporting week Dec. 19 at the weekly low of mostly $6.8325.
Several exporters were not issuing bids for nearby delivery. There were no new confirmed export sales of white wheat this week. Forward month bids for soft white wheat were as follows: January $6.9075-7.0075, February $6.9575-7.0575, March $6.9575-7.20 and April $7.1250-7.20. One year ago, forward month bids for soft white wheat were as follows: January $8.6575-8.85, February $8.70-8.85, March $8.7075-8.85 and April $7.1250-7.20.
Outstanding U.S. white wheat export sales as of Dec. 12, for the marketing year beginning June 1, 2013, and ending May 31, 2014, totaled 977.7 thousand MT compared to 950.5 thousand MT on Dec. 5 and 1222.8 thousand MT one year ago. Outstanding white wheat export sales for the 2013-14 marketing year were to the following countries in 1000 MT: South Korea 204.9, Japan 180.8, Philippines 171.4, Thailand 36.0, Guatemala 33.3, Mexico 33.3, Nigeria 19.2, Indonesia 18.0, Taiwan 13.3, Malaysia 9.0, Burma 4.0, Sri Lanka 1.5, Canada 0.8, Vietnam 0.8, Hong Kong 0.7, and total unknown 250.7. Accumulated white wheat export shipments as of Dec. 12, in 1000 MT for the 2013-14 marketing year, totaled 2244.7 compared to 2407.7 one year ago.
Outstanding U.S. barley export sales as of Dec. 12, for the marketing year beginning June 1, 2013, and ending May 31, 2014, in 1000 MT, totaled 50.9 compared to 50.8 on Dec. 5, and 1.1 one year ago. Outstanding barley export sales for the 2013-14 marketing year in 1000 MT were to the following countries in 1000 MT: Japan 48.6, Taiwan 1.5 and South Korea 0.8. Accumulated barley export shipments as of Dec. 12, were 74.3 thousand MT compared to 119.9 one year ago.
COARSE FEEDING GRAINS
Bids for U.S. 2 Yellow Corn delivered to Portland in single rail cars were not available. Bids for U.S. 2 Yellow Corn truck delivered to the inland feeding areas of Yakima, Wash., and Hermiston, Ore., were also not available. Bids for U.S. 2 Heavy White Oats for December delivery were $265.00, steady compared to Dec. 12 noon bids.
