The crash didn't harm the driver, Steven Medoz, 38, from Atascosa, Texas, but Oregon State Police gave him a ticket for careless driving.

LA GRANDE, Ore. (AP) -- Oregon State Police say westbound lanes of Interstate 84 near La Grande were closed for several hours after a commercial truck rolled into the center median, spilling a load of tractor batteries onto the shoulder of the highway.

Lt. David MacManiman says while no batteries landed on the travel portion of the road early Monday, all westbound lanes were closed for three hours due to the nature of the load.

Police say the 38-year-old truck driver from Texas lost control on the snow- and ice-covered highway. He was cited for careless driving. The driver was not injured.
