WATSONVILLE, Calif. (AP) -- A California grower has been ordered to rehire a farmworker improperly fired for union organizing.
The Monterey County Herald (http://bit.ly/Ir3MIR) says a Santa Cruz County judge told Watsonville's Dutra Farms last week that it must reinstate the worker.
Dutra Farms says it is appealing the order and considers the judge's decision stayed.
The newspaper says it's the first time in more than three decades that the Agricultural Labor Relations Board has won injunctive relief from a state trial court.
The change is due to new unfair labor practice provisions of the Agricultural Labor Relations Act that went into effect on Jan. 1.
