PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) -- Vandals sprayed graffiti on the walls and stairs of an Oregon auditorium where former Vice President Al Gore was scheduled to appear for a talk about global warming.

Among the messages: "Don't buy false solutions," and "Climate Justice Not CO2 Trading."

Rallies were planned for downtown Portland on Wednesday during the visit by the Nobel Peace Prize winner.

Gore is promoting his new book, "Our Choice: A Plan to Solve the Climate Crisis."

The books suggests changes in the ways we produce and use energy, and manage farms and forests to help avoid or minimize the negative effects of climate change Gore detailed in his book and Academy Award-winning movie, "An Inconvenient Truth."
