FARGO, N.D. (AP) -- Potato stocks in North Dakota are down 36 percent from a year ago.

The Agriculture Department says the amount of potatoes held by growers, dealers and processors in the state on June 1 stood at 1.4 million hundredweight.

Current stocks represent 7 percent of production, down from 10 percent last year.

Nationwide, potato stocks on June 1 stood at 51.3 million hundredweight -- up 13 percent over the year.
