MIAMI (AP) -- Police are investigating another horse slaughtering in South Florida.
The Miami-Dade Police Department was called to a farm early Wednesday morning, where authorities say a slaughtered horse was discovered in the open fields.
Police are investigating whether or not the incident is related to string of horse slaughters that have taken place around South Florida this year.
In the first seven months of 2009, police say at least 17 horses had been butchered, their carcasses left on roadsides or in stalls or rural pastures.
Animal rights advocates believe the meat is being sold on the black market to people from other countries where horse is a delicacy.
