Klundt to lead on turf sales

Duane Klundt has joined Grassland Oregon as vice president of turf grass sales for North America.

Klundt formerly worked at The Scotts Co., where he was a senior territory manager for professional turf sales for North America.

"With a long history of exemplary service to the industry, reputation of superior turf knowledge and management skills, we are fortunate to have Duane join our team," said Jerry Hall, general manager and partner of Grassland Oregon.

Troutt grants announced

Applications are now being taken for the 17th Annual Ken Troutt Memorial Scholarship. This scholarship fund has been established in memory of Ken Troutt, well-known auctioneer for many Northwest bull sales. Scholarships of $500 will be announced at the March 28 WCA Bull Test Sale in Eltopia, Wash.

To be eligible, youths must be incoming freshman in the fall of 2012, enrolled in a college or technical school and be an individual or son or daughter of an individual that has consigned or purchased bulls in the 2008, or 2009 Cowman's Classic Bull Sale or the 2009, 2010 or 2011 WCA Bull Test Sale.

McMoran takes helm in Skagit

Don McMoran has been appointed the new director for the Washington State University Skagit County Extension.

McMoran received his master's degree in agriculture in 1998 with a minor in Spanish and a master's degree in teaching in 2000 from Oregon State University. He has been the agriculture and natural resources extension educator since May 2006. McMoran is a co-founder of Viva Farms.

He oversees the WSU Skagit County Master Gardener program as well as the Skagit County Pest Board.
