* Sociology professor Lois Wright Morton has been named the interim director of Iowa State University's Leopold Center for Sustainable Agriculture. She will begin her appointment July 1.


* Washington State University professor Kim Kidwell has earned the Common Reading Excellence Award from the WSU University College for her use of Michael Pollan's "The Omnivore's Dilemma" in Agricultural and Food Systems 101 class. Kidwell, who also serves associate dean for academic programs in the College of Agricultural, Human, and Natural Resource Sciences, used the book as the basic framework for the course. She invited representatives from agriculture industries and academic disciplines to speak each week.

* Auctioneer Bruce Brooks, of Marietta, Okla.; rancher and sale manager Gary Kendall, of Potlatch, Idaho; and A.J. Smith, late editor of the Oklahoma Cowman, of Lone Wolf, Okla.; were added to the Livestock Marketeers Hall of Fame wall at the National Western Stock Show Club recently.
