ELKO, Nev. (AP) -- A Nevada forestry firefighter says a wildfire that grew from a rancher's controlled burn shows how changeable spring weather can be.
Nevada Division of Forestry Battalion Chief Sam Hicks said the Tuesday blaze at a ranch near Clubine and Lower Lamoille got out of the property owner's control.
Hicks says he believes the property owner had a burn permit to burn dead vegetation and brush in a marshy area among willows.
Hicks says sudden wind gusts rekindled and spread flames.
