BOISE, Idaho (AP) -- A Hecla Mining Co. official says there has been no contact so far with an Idaho silver miner missing since a cave-in last week as rescue crews continue working 24 hours a day on a tunnel to reach an area where he was last working.
Company spokeswoman Melanie Hennessey on Saturday said there is no estimate on when crews will reach a void more than a mile deep in the Lucky Friday Mine where they hope to find 53-year-old Larry Marek.
Rescuers had about 57 feet to go on Friday but Hennessey says work is advancing more slowly because of treacherous conditions.
She says the company has all the supplies and equipment at the mine to continue moving forward with the rescue tunnel.
