CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) -- A mushroom farm that was once part of the Wyoming Department of Corrections' prison industries program will be sold at auction next month.
The Wind River Mushroom Farm in Shoshoni closed in 2006. At the time, Douglas Tanner, the farm's president and chief executive officer, said the labor shortage was to blame and that inmates who worked at the farm were too slow at picking and sorting the mushrooms.
The lender-ordered auction is set for Oct. 15. The farm had a $3 million loan from First Interstate Bank of Jackson and the Wyoming Business Council.
