YAKIMA, Wash. (AP) -- Yakima city officials have ordered a halt to wood-chipping operations at the former Boise Cascade mill where a log pile fire Saturday sent black smoke over parts of the city.
The Yakima Herald-Republic reports it was the third such fire in three months. City officials may shut down the work permanently unless the operator, Dunollie Enterprises, can prove it can prevent fires.
Saturday's fire started in a sawdust pile and spread. There were two fires in July.
