MONTPELIER, Vt. (AP) -- The Vermont Agency of Agriculture is trying to hook up farmers with food buyers, sellers and distributors in an annual matchmaking event.

On Wednesday farmers and producers of locally made food will get a chance to talk one-on-one with wholesalers and distributors in 10-minute segments much like speed dating.

Officials say it gives producers a chance to consider expanding to larger markets, including some retail stores such as Hannaford's and Wal-Mart as well as nonprofit groups such as the Vermont Food Bank and distributors like Black River Produce.

Over 40 buyers and 70 sellers are expected to participate in the event at Juniper Hill Inn in Windsor.
