KENNEWICK, Wash. (AP) -- The Kennewick Irrigation District plans to expand in the Red Mountain area.
KNDU-TV reports the district board approved a Local Improvement District at Friday's meeting for a $12 million dollar extension.
The water will supply farms and vineyards on 1,700 acres east of the Yakima River and north of I-82.
The LID will pay the cost through a 25-year construction loan. The Kennewick Irrigation District supplies water from the Yakima River to customers in Benton County and the Tri-Cities.
