DICKENS, Iowa (AP) -- Authorities say a worker has died in a grain bin accident at a farm co-op in Dickens in northwest Iowa.
KLEM radio in Le Mars says 51-year-old Jeffrey Balk, of Spencer, died on Tuesday in the accident at MaxYield Cooperative. The company says in a statement that Balk went inside the bin about 9:30 a.m. while grain was being removed and was engulfed by the flowing corn.
KLEM says Balk with trapped. Once rescuers reached him, they could not revive him.
The company says it's unknown why Balk entered the bin and the incident is under investigation.
