The Idaho State Department of Agriculture will accept applications for this year’s Specialty Crop Block Grant program through April 12.
USDA awarded the state agency $2.1 million for qualified projects that exclusively improve the competitiveness of specialty crops such as fruits and vegetables, tree nuts, dried fruits, horticulture, nursery crops and floriculture. Eligible projects must benefit more than one organization.
ISDA has awarded more than $10 million in specialty crop grants since 2009. Results have included increased sales and product knowledge, greater sustainability, and better disease control and product quality, the agency said.
