JACKSON, Wyo. (AP) -- The co-worker of a man who was gored by an injured bison near Shadow Mountain over the weekend says Cole Campbell is recovering at a hospital in Idaho Falls, Idaho.
Johnie Filveck says he and Campbell were guiding a client for Double Diamond Outfitters and Drag n Tag Saturday when the 48-year-old Campbell was gored.
Filveck says the Riverton client wanted to shoot a bison big enough for the record books with a pistol. The client shot the bison three times before it fell, and Campbell and the client approached, trying to get close enough for a killing shot.
Filveck says that's when the bison got up and gored Campbell. The animal was shot several more times before it died.
Filveck says Campbell has several broken ribs and puncture wounds in the elbow and buttocks.
