Compared to March 30: Domestic Alfalfa traded mostly steady in all regions. Retail/Stable hay traded steady on limited offerings. Export hay traded steady on supply. Demand good for all classes with moderate to active trade activity. Regions 1 and 2 trading is limited as much of the supply is already spoken for. Regions 3 and 4 have started cutting with many expecting hay to be baled within 7-10 days. Rain is forecasted for much of the area by mid-next week, which may damage downed hay. Region 5 producers have started baling with bulk of hay expecting to be traded at the beginning of next week. Region 6 hay trade consisted of mostly export hay again this week. Dairy hay movement minimal with many buyers waiting the market out and cleaning up past purchases. Dairy buyers continue to buy on a load by load basis. Retail hay traded at the same values for old crop hay, new crop retail pricing is staying pretty similar to old crop hay.
