Oct. 26

This week FOB Last week Last year

20,230 14,560 22,470

Compared to Oct. 19: All classes of hay traded mostly steady to firm in all regions. Rain and snow showers blanketed the northern half of the state this week slowing hay trade and movement. Many growers in the Sacramento and San Joaquin valleys had hay sitting in the windrow when the storm hit. Some of those growers opted to bail at higher moisture levels to get it bailed up prior to the storm approaching. Due to this many trades reported were of excessive moisture levels. Depending on the extent of the moisture level determined the discount level therefore some price spreads are bigger this week. Demand good for all classes of hay with very light trade activity.
