This year marked the 91st Annual National FFA Leadership Convention and Expo. The Convention began on Oct. 24th and lasted until the 27th.
The Meridian FFA Chapter sent 20 members to the National FFA Convention in Indianapolis, Ind. Advisors and members left on Monday the 22nd of October for Louisville, Kentucky. On the 23rd members and advisors went on tours of Church Hill Downs, Keeneland race track, Mammoth Caves and Godolphin Stables.
The group then drove to Indianapolis in order to be ready to compete the next day. The Meridian FFA Chapter sent teams and individuals to compete in Livestock Evaluation, Horse Evaluation, Veterinary Science, Ag Communications, Employment Skills, National Chapter Award, and American Degree Award. Members competed on the 24th and 25th. Each team or individual received their results at their banquets on Friday the 26th.
In Livestock Evaluation the team received a Silver ranking. Team members included Kyleigh Davis-Gold, Siera Horton-Gold,Emma Carly- Silver, and Kayla Shubert-Silver.
In Horse Evaluation the team received 7th place and a gold ranking. Team members included Katie Latham-13th place and Gold, Courtney Marshall-Silver, Ellie McNeal-Silver, and Emma Sells-Silver.
In Veterinary Science the team received 5th place and a Gold ranking. Team members include MarthaHirschi -8th place and Gold, Rachel Mansfield-Gold, Alyssa Grinenger-Silver, and Gabby Zavalia-Silver.
In Ag Communications, the team received 6th place and a Gold ranking. Team members included Claire Shelton-1st place and Gold, Sydney Plum-2nd place and Gold, Cassidy Plum-Gold, and Carly Connery-Gold.
In Employment Skills Ellie Higgins received a silver ranking. Jessica Kohntopp received her American Degree. The Meridian FFA Chapter also sent 2 members, Jordyn Bettencourt and Dylan Peters, as chapter delegates.
