The Goldendale FFA and the Goldendale Fire Department sponsored a fire safety education coloring contest for primary school students from March 1-15, 2019.
The goal of the contest was to increase the community youth’s knowledge of proper fire safety. Goldendale FFA members designed coloring sheets with fire safety messages after attending a fire safety education course put on by the Goldendale Fire Department, the Department of Natural Resources, and the Goldendale Emergency Services.
The Goldendale Fire Department selected three coloring sheets designed by FFA members Gwen Gilliam, Katrina Mason, and Aydrin Myra to be distributed primary students for the contest. Ninety-one primary students participated in the coloring contest. The winners of the contest were selected by Goldendale FFA officers and the Goldendale Fire Department.
The winners were invited to attend a doughnut party with fire fighters on March 22 at Goldendale Primary School. The following winners were selected:
Kindergarten: Cyress Cress, Brooklee Stebar, Lucas Kenny, Cheyenne Fredricksen, Uriah Owen, Daniel Ihrig, Braden Antram and Sophia Miller
1st Grade: Carter Williams, Jonah Gray, Ella Smith, Gage Halm, Amy Gorrod, Danae Beauchamp, and Aubrey Kellick
2nd Grade: Sophia Soria, Elysia Bakker, Makayla McFarland, CJ Estrada and Skyla Oswalt
3rd Grade: Jagger Hulme, Peyton Anderson, Jennasen Smith, Graham Gilliam and Kayla Preble
4th Grade: Jasper Keith, Aila Chisholm, Madison Daniel, Aurora Dowers, Sierra Blunt and Chance Norman
