THREE FORKS, Mont. (AP) -- Dale L. Folkvord of Three Forks, a farmer and founder of Wheat Montana Bakery, died Sunday at the University of Utah Medical Center.

His family said he died of natural causes. He was 72.

Folkvord was born in Fort Peck. He quit school as a high school freshman to pursue a life of agriculture. He married Frances Novak and bought her family's farm and later other farmland in the Helena area.

In 1978, the Folkvords purchased a farm near Three Forks. The first Wheat Montana Bakery was built at the junction of U.S. Highway 287 and Interstate 90 in 1993.

Today, the family business includes 14,000 acres of farmland and delis in seven cities. Wheat Montana bread is shipped to stores all over the country.

Folkvord is survived by his wife, sons Darrel and Dean of Three Forks, and three grandchildren.
