BOZEMAN, Mont. (AP) -- Montana's state veterinarian says government agents continue to haze bison back into Yellowstone National Park.
The deadline to push the animals back into the park was May 15. But veterinarian Marty Zaluski says agents hazed about 40 bison out of Montana and into the park on Monday.
State and federal officials have conducted similar bison hazings for the last decade as part of an effort to protect cattle ranches from disease carried by bison.
In recent years, the agencies have allowed bison to linger outside the park well past the May 15 deadline. Last year, hazing ran until June 19.
