March 18th – 21st, the Banks FFA had eleven members attending the Annual Oregon FFA State Convention, held in Central Point.  Of those eleven, four were competing.  Mitchell Evers placed in the top eight for Advanced Prepared Public Speaking with his speech entitled “Raw Milk in Oregon”; Zack Evers won the state Diversified Agriculture Production Proficiency; and Stefani Evers won the state Dairy Production Entrepreneurship proficiency.  Stefani and Zack will continue on later this year to compete at the national level.  Excellent work!  Our digital scrapbook, made by Korey Kelly, won the silver award. Also, congratulations to Mathias Schmidlkofer, Cheyanne Heesacker, Mitchell Evers, and Eric Evers for earning their State Degree, which is the highest degree that the state association can bestow on its members.  Other members in attendance at the convention were LeeAnn Pallett, Abby Evers, Gerritt Schmidlkofer, and Nick Evers.

Our chapter is currently preparing to select our 2011-2012 officer team, along with preparing for dairy cattle judging contests and training a team for the forestry competition.  On April 9th and 10th, we will be holding Tire Recycling at Jim’s Thriftway; the times will be decided soon.  Thank you to everyone who has supported our chapter!  Congratulations to all of the state winners!
