Fans watch the Sisters Rodeo on Saturday at the rodeo grounds on U.S. Highway 20.

A bull escaped the Sisters Rodeo arena Saturday night, jumping into the stands and injuring spectators before being captured by rodeo staff.

The Professional Rodeo Cowboy Association, which sanctions the rodeo, said in a statement on X, formerly Twitter, that at the end of the rodeo Saturday, a bull jumped the fence and ran through the rodeo grounds before being secured by arena staff and pickup men. Several spectators were injured and received medical treatment, the association confirmed.

Video posted on social media shows the bull hopping the fence from the main arena and heading into the stands, while announcers told the audience to head for higher ground. Another video showed the bull running through the grounds outside the arena while people fled or chased it.

The association called the event rare and credited the rodeo’s pickup men for capturing the bull before further injuries or loss of life occurred. “PRCA selects only the best pickup men. They are the most highly trained best horsemen anyone can find.”
