The Greenbelt Land Trust is trying to secure $2 million in donations and $3 million in grants to buy the 587-acre property — a working farm with trail easements linking it to Bald Hill Natural Area.

The Gazette-Times newspaper (http://is.gd/cLhUa8) reports the check for $250,000 raises the total collected to just over $1.1 million.

Greenbelt Executive Director Michael Pope says the same donor has been supporting the nonprofit land trust with cash contributions for years, but the benefactor’s identity remains a secret — even to Greenbelt staff.
