BILLINGS, Mont. (AP) — A Billings cattle feed company plans to expand its operations by purchasing Cargill’s feed mill.
WestFeeds President and CEO Scott Black says the company expects to finalize the deal next month. He says the purchase will help WestFeeds grow its market share in Montana and Wyoming.
WestFeeds was established in 2003 when a group of Billings-area investors purchased the Montana-based feed assets of ConAgra. It will close an old feed plant in Billings and manufacture cattle feed out of the 50,000-ton capacity plant it is purchasing from Cargill.
Cargill officials say they’re selling the plant in order to streamline their bagged feed operations. The sale price was not disclosed.
Westfeeds Inc. operates in Billings, Miles City, Great Falls and Lewistown.
