With the completion of Santiam Christian’s math and science building, the FFA chapter obtained a science classroom which will help advance the chapters program in the coming year. With this tremendous opportunity, our chapter obtained brand new equipment and an exciting new environment with lab stations. We have also started the assembly of a new greenhouse for which to better teach plant science to the students. This greenhouse will be twice the size of our original greenhouse, and will include heat.
On Friday, the 21st of September, the Santiam Christian FFA chapter hosted tractor rides for all the students attending the Harvest Festival: a day where the classes set up carnival-like events in an attempt to raise money for their individual classes. We used two tractors that pulled trailers, one trailer made from recycled 50 gallon plastic drums. Along with raising funds, we had the opportunity to reach out to our schools youth and show what it means to be a part of FFA.
On September 26th thru the 27th, the Santiam Christian FFA chapter went to Silverton, Oregon for a fun and educational leadership camp. The camp was held at Canyonview campgrounds. During these two days, all of the chapters from the Upper Willamette District got together and worked with the state officers to enhance their leadership skills. Throughout these days, we made new friends and gained many valuable skills in the art of leadership.
