With storms lining up across the Pacific Ocean, the National Weather Service has issued flood alerts for Southwestern Oregon and Northern California. The first system should be a minor rain storm, then heavy rain will move into the area Thursday and Friday.
In Oregon, the Coquille River at Coquille and the South Fork of the Coquille at Myrtle Point may pass flood stage early Friday afternoon. The Weather Service also announced flood watches in eastern Curry and Josephine counties, Jackson County, in the Siskiyous and the Southern Oregon Cascades.
Winter storm alerts were also posted for the foothills of the Blue Mountains in Eastern Oregon.
A flood watch in California includes the Sacramento Valley, the Siskiyous, the Shasta Lake area, Burney Basin, Carquinez Strait and Delta and the northern San Joaquin Valley. Winter storm warnings and advisories were issued for the Siskiyous, the west slope of the northern Sierrra Nevada and Lassen Peak.
In Washington, the first storm will bring high winds to the coast and the eastern Puget Sound lowlands. A winter storm alert was issued for the Blue Mountains.
