CASH SOFT WHITE WHEAT
Pacific Northwest: Bids for U.S. 1 Soft White Wheat, delivered by unit trains and barges to Portland during October ended the reporting week on Thursday, Oct. 4, at $8.5425-8.8425, mostly $8.6725, 9.25 to 14.25 cents per bushel higher than week ago bids of $8.40-8.75, mostly $8.56 for October delivery. There were no white club wheat premiums for nearby delivery for this week or last week.
One year ago bids for U.S. 1 Soft White Wheat and white club wheat for October delivery were $6.10-6.25, mostly $6.10. Nearby bids for U.S. 1 Soft White wheat began the reporting week on Sept. 28 at the weekly high of mostly $8.8675, then moved lower to mostly $8.76 on Oct. 1 and then to mostly $8.6425 on Oct. 2. On Oct. 3, bids moved slightly higher to mostly $8.6525 and returned moved higher again Oct. 4, the reporting week close, to mostly $8.6725. There were no new confirmed export sales of white wheat this week. Forward month bids for soft white wheat were as follows: November $8.75-8.9425, December $8.80-8.9925, January $8.85-9.0975 and February $8.90-9.0975. One year ago, forward month bids for soft white wheat were as follows: November $6.10-6.18, December $6.10-6.31, January $6.10-6.34 and February $6.10-6.37.
Outstanding U.S. white wheat export sales as of Sept. 27, for the marketing year beginning June 1, 2012, and ending May 31, 2013, totaled 749.1 thousand MT compared to 783.3 thousand MT on Sept. 20, and 917.8 thousand MT one year ago. Outstanding white wheat export sales for the 2012-13 marketing year were to the following countries in 1000 MT: Philippines 152.6, South Korea 145.7, Japan 124.7, Indonesia 95.0, Guatemala 23.5, Taiwan 23.5, Nigeria 23.4, Thailand 10.5, Hong Kong 1.6, Vietnam 1.2, Canada 0.8, Malaysia 0.5 and total unknown 146.1. Accumulated white wheat export shipments as of Sept. 27, in 1000 MT for the 2012-13 marketing year, totaled 1730.0 compared to 1749.3 one year ago.
Outstanding U.S. barley export sales as of Sept. 27, for the marketing year beginning June 1, 2012, and ending May 31, 2013, in 1000 MT, totaled 22.7 compared to 22.7 on Sept. 20, and 0.4 one year ago. Outstanding barley export sales for the 2012-13 marketing year in 1000 MT were to the following countries in 1000 MT: Japan 22.4 and Taiwan 0.3. Accumulated barley export shipments as of Sept. 27, were 97.3 thousand MT compared to 81.0 one year ago.
COARSE FEEDING GRAINS
Bids for U.S. 2 Yellow Corn delivered to Portland in single rail cars were $307.75, $13.50 to $14.50 per ton higher than Sept. 27 bids of $293.25-294.25. Bids for U.S. 2 Yellow Corn truck delivered to the inland feeding areas of Yakima, Wash., and Hermiston, Ore., were $301.50-314.75, $2.75 to $14.75 higher than Sept. 27 bids of $298.78-300. Moderately higher Chicago December corn futures for the week were supportive to cash corn bids, although a lower basis bid by some corn traders weighed on cash bids somewhat. Bids for U.S. 2 Heavy White Oats for October delivery trended $15 higher than Sept. 27 noon bids at $265.
