CASH SOFT WHITE WHEAT
Pacific Northwest: Bids for U.S. 1 Soft White Wheat, delivered by unit trains and barges to Portland during October ended the reporting week on Thursday, Sept. 27, at $8.40-8.75, mostly $8.56, $20 to $24.50 cents per bushel lower than week ago bids of $8.64-8.95 for October delivery. There were no white club wheat premiums for nearby delivery for this week or last week. One year ago bids for U.S. 1 Soft White Wheat and white club wheat for October delivery were $6.35-6.48, mostly $6.42. Nearby bids for U.S. 1 Soft White wheat began the reporting week on Sept. 21 at the weekly high of mostly $8.84 in response to the higher Chicago December wheat futures. Bids then fell to mostly $8.77 on Sept. 24, rose slightly higher to mostly $8.78 on Sept. 25 and then fell lower on Sept. 26 to mostly $8.62 in response to the lower Chicago December wheat futures. Sept. 27, the reporting week close, bids dropped to the weekly low of at mostly $8.56. There were no new confirmed export sales of white wheat this week. Forward month bids for soft white wheat were as follows: November $8.55-8.85, December $8.60-8.90, January $8.70-8.95 and February $8.73-9. One year ago, forward month bids for soft white wheat were as follows: November $6.45-6.51, December $6.50-6.55, January and February $6.50-6.60.
Outstanding U.S. white wheat export sales as of Sept. 20, for the marketing year beginning June 1, 2012, and ending May 31, 2013, totaled 783.3 thousand MT compared to 824.3 thousand MT on Sept. 13, and 987.7 thousand MT one year ago. Outstanding white wheat export sales for the 2012-13 marketing year were to the following countries in 1000 MT: South Korea 163.3, Philippines 161.1, Japan 131.9, Indonesia 95.0, Guatemala 23.5, Taiwan 23.5, Nigeria 18.4, Thailand 11.1, Hong Kong 1.9, Vietnam 1.5, Canada 0.5, Malaysia 0.5 and total unknown 151.1. Accumulated white wheat export shipments as of Sept. 20, in 1000 MT for the 2012-13 marketing year, totaled 1597.2 compared to 1595.6 one year ago.
Outstanding U.S. barley export sales as of Sept. 20, for the marketing year beginning June 1, 2012, and ending May 31, 2013, in 1000 MT, totaled 22.7 compared to 50.4 on Sept. 13, and 0.4 one year ago. Outstanding barley export sales for the 2012-13 marketing year in 1000 MT were to the following countries in 1000 MT: Japan 22.4 and Taiwan 0.3. Accumulated barley export shipments as of Sept. 20, were 97.3 thousand MT compared to 81.0 one year ago.
COARSE FEEDING GRAINS
Bids for U.S. 2 Yellow Corn delivered to Portland in single rail cars were $293.25-294.25, $18.25 to $18.50 per ton lower than Sept. 20 bids of $311.50-312.75. Bids for U.S. 2 Yellow Corn truck delivered to the inland feeding areas of Yakima, Wash., and Hermiston, Ore., were $298.78-300, $10.50 to $15.25 lower than Sept. 20 bids of $309.25-315.25. Lower Chicago December corn futures pressured the cash corn bids during the week. Bids for U.S. 2 Heavy White Oats for October delivery held steady with Sept. 20 noon bids at $250.
