CASH SOFT WHITE WHEAT
Pacific Northwest: Bids for U.S. 1 Soft White Wheat, delivered by unit trains and barges to Portland during February ended the reporting week on Thursday, Feb. 7, at $8.47-8.71 mostly $8.5975, $18.50 to $23 cents per bushel lower compared to Jan. 31 noon bids of $8.70-8.8950, mostly $8.7975. There were no white club wheat premiums for nearby delivery for this week or last week. One year ago bids for U.S. 1 Soft White Wheat and white club wheat for February delivery were $6.70-7.10, mostly $7.04. Nearby bids for U.S. 1 Soft White wheat began reporting week on Feb. 1 at mostly $8.70 then moved lower to mostly $8.6775 on Feb. 4 and continued lower to mostly $8.6125 on Feb. 5. On Feb. 6 bids were higher at mostly $8.6575. Feb. 7, the end of the reporting week bids moved lower again to mostly $8.5975. New confirmed export sales of white wheat this week were limited to Japan. Forward month bids for soft white wheat were as follows: March $8.57-8.71, April and May $8.67-8.73 and August New Crop $7.7125-8.0625. One year ago, forward month bids for soft white wheat were as follows: March 6.90-7.10, April through June $7-7.10 and August New Crop $6.75-7.
Outstanding U.S. white wheat export sales as of Jan. 31, for the marketing year beginning June 1, 2012, and ending May 31, 2013, totaled 993.7 thousand MT compared to 1019.1 thousand MT on Jan. 24, and 1694.0 thousand MT one year ago. Outstanding white wheat export sales for the 2012-13 marketing year were to the following countries in 1000 MT: Japan 223.1, Philippines 167.5, South Korea 139.7, Egypt 110.0, Thailand 38.0, Nigeria 30.4, Taiwan 23.1, Burma 4.0, Malaysia 4.0, Canada 1.6, Hong Kong 1.1, Mexico 0.9, China 0.5, Vietnam 0.5 and total unknown 249.3. Accumulated white wheat export shipments as of January 31, 2013, in 1000 MT for the 2012-13 marketing year, totaled 3138.9 compared to 3330.8 one year ago.
Outstanding U.S. barley export sales as of Jan. 31, for the marketing year beginning June 1, 2012, and ending May 31, 2013, in 1000 MT, totaled 1.8 compared to 2.1 on Jan. 24, and 0.2 one year ago. Outstanding barley export sales for the 2012-13 marketing year in 1000 MT were to the following countries in 1000 MT: Japan 0.8, South Korea 0.5 and Taiwan 0.5. Accumulated barley export shipments as of January 31, 2013 were 121.0 thousand MT compared to 82.6 one year ago.
COARSE FEEDING GRAINS
Bids for U.S. 2 Yellow Corn delivered to Portland in single rail cars were $296.25-298.50, $10.50 to $12.25 per ton lower than Jan. 31 bids of $308.50-309. Bids for U.S. 2 Yellow Corn truck delivered to the inland feeding areas of Yakima, Wash., and Hermiston, Ore., were $293-302.75, $9.50 to $9.75 per ton lower than last Thursday's bids of $302.75-312.25. Lower Chicago March corn futures pressured corn cash bids. Bids for U.S. 2 Heavy White Oats for February delivery held steady with Jan. 31 noon bids at 270.
