National Sheep/Wool Reports Compiled by USDA Market News Service, Greeley, Colo.-San Angelo, Texas

Wool prices in cents per pound and foreign currency per kilogram, sheep prices in dollars per hundredweight (cwt.) except some replacement animals on per head basis as indicated.

Sept. 28

Domestic wool trading on a clean basis was at a standstill this week. There were no confirmed sales. Demand very light to light. Domestic wool trading on a greasy basis was at a standstill this week. There were no confirmed sales.

Domestic Wool Tags - delivered to buyer, greasy basis:

#1 $.40-.45

#2 $.25-.35

#3 $.10-.20

The FSA effective LDP rate for wool is unchanged at $0 per pound. The FSA effective LDP rate for mohair is unchanged at $0 per pound.

Sept. 28

Compared to Sept. 21 slaughter lambs were steady to $10 higher, except at New Holland, Pa., where they were $5-10 lower. Slaughter ewes were mostly steady to $5 lower, except at Ft. Collins, Colo., and St. Onge, S.D., where they were steady to $4 higher. Feeder lambs were steady to $5 higher, except at St. Onge where they were $2-8 lower. At San Angelo, Texas, 4,251 head sold in a one-day sale. Equity Electronic Auction sold 320 slaughter lambs in North Dakota. In direct trading slaughter ewes were not tested and feeder lambs were steady. 4,600 head of negotiated sales of slaughter lambs were $3-4 lower and 11,700 head of formula sales of dressed lambs under 85 lbs. were $8-10 lower and over 85 lbs. were $4-5 lower. 6,436 lamb carcasses sold with 45 lbs. and down $3.82 lower; 45-85 lbs. $5.15-7.41 lower and 85 lbs. and up $1.34 lower.

SLAUGHTER LAMBS Choice and Prime 2-3:

San Angelo: shorn and wooled 100-135 lbs. $70-80.

SLAUGHTER LAMBS Choice and Prime 1:

San Angelo: 40-60 lbs. $120-142; 60-70 lbs. $110-120, few $136-160; 70-80 lbs. $100-112; 80-90 lbs. $95-104; 90-105 lbs. $88-98.

DIRECT TRADING (Lambs with 3-4 percent shrink or equivalent)

4,600 Slaughter Lambs shorn and wooled 110-177 lbs. $90.60-115 (wtd avg $104.97); no dressed sales reported.

SLAUGHTER EWES:

San Angelo: Good 2-3 (fleshy) $35-46; Utility and Good 1-3 (medium flesh) $50-61, high-yielding $64-65; Utility 1-2 (thin) $35-50; Cull and Utility 1-2 (very thin) $30-39; Cull 1 (extremely thin) $20-30.

FEEDER LAMBS Medium and Large 1-2:

San Angelo: 60-70 lbs. $110-114; 70-80 lbs. $94-105; 80-100 lbs. $85-98; 100-115 lbs. $80-92.

REPLACEMENT EWES Medium and Large 1-2:

San Angelo: yearlings $100-108 per head; baby tooth $90 per head.
