CASH SOFT WHITE WHEAT

Pacific Northwest: Bids for US 1 Soft White Wheat, delivered by unit trains and barges to Portland during November ended the reporting week on Thursday, Nov. 1, at $8.80-8.8350, mostly $8.8175, 2.75 to 16.50 cents per bushel lower than week ago bids of $8.8275-9 for November delivery. There were no white club wheat premiums for nearby delivery for this week or last week. One year ago bids for U.S. 1 Soft White Wheat and white club wheat for November delivery were $6.15-6.29, mostly $6.21. Nearby bids for U.S. 1 Soft White wheat began the reporting week on Oct. 26 and Oct. 29 as not available as most exporters were not issuing bids. On Oct. 30, bids were mostly $8.76 and continued higher on Oct. 31 to mostly $8.7975 in reaction to the higher Chicago December wheat futures.

Nov. 1, bids ended the reporting week at mostly $8.8175. Bids for soft white wheat were influenced by the fluctuating Chicago December wheat futures during the week. Several exporters were not issuing bids for nearby delivery. There were no new confirmed export sales of white wheat this week. Forward month bids for soft white wheat were as follows: December $8.80-9.10, January $8.90-9.10, February $8.90-9.13, and March $8.90-9.16. One year ago, forward month bids for soft white wheat were as follows: December $6.15-6.31, January $6.20-6.33, February $6.20-6.35, and March $6.20-6.37.

Outstanding U.S. white wheat export sales as of Oct. 25, for the marketing year beginning June 1, 2012, and ending May 31, 2013, totaled 829.0 thousand MT compared to 839.0 thousand MT on Oct. 18, and 926.3 thousand MT one year ago. Outstanding white wheat export sales for the 2012-13 marketing year were to the following countries in 1000 MT: Philippines 168.6, South Korea 157.4, Japan 141.3, Indonesia 70.0, Thailand 34.5, Guatemala 23.5, Taiwan 22.5, Nigeria 21.4, Hong Kong 1.4, Vietnam 0.8, Canada 0.5, and total unknown 187.1. Accumulated white wheat export shipments as of Oct. 25, 2012, in 1000 MT for the 2012-13 marketing year, totaled 1907.7 compared to 2110.3 one year ago.

Outstanding U.S. barley export sales as of Oct. 25, for the marketing year beginning June 1, 2012, and ending May 31, 2013, in 1000 MT, totaled 1.5 compared to 22.4 on Oct. 18, and 0.6 one year ago. Outstanding barley export sales for the 2012-2013 marketing year in 1000 MT were to the following countries in 1000 MT: Japan 1.5. Accumulated barley export shipments as of October 25, 2012 were 118.8 thousand MT compared to 81.6 one year ago.

COARSE FEEDING GRAINS

Bids for U.S. 2 Yellow Corn delivered to Portland in single rail cars were $309.75-310, $6.50 per ton higher than Oct. 26 bids of $303.25-303.50. Bids for U.S. 2 Yellow Corn truck delivered to the inland feeding areas of Yakima, Wash., and Hermiston, Ore., were $299.25-304.25, mixed, from $5 lower to $3.25 higher than Oct. 26 bids of $296-309.25. Higher Chicago December corn futures for the week supported cash corn bids, however some corn traders lowered their basis which pressured cash corn bids lower. Bids for U.S. 2 Heavy White Oats for November delivery held steady with Oct. 26 noon bids at $265.
