Nursery group releases energy guide

PORTLAND -- The Oregon Association of Nurseries and the Oregon Environmental Council have released a guide to help nursery growers improve energy-use efficiency and reduce greenhouse-gas emissions.

"Best Management Practices for Climate Friendly Nurseries" includes energy-use tips that have been field tested and information on low-interest loans and tax credits to help nurseries reduce their energy use.

The guide also features case studies of Oregon nurseries that have implemented energy-reduction practices within the association's Climate Friendly Nurseries project.

The project, conducted in collaboration with the environmental council, helps nurseries quantify energy use and greenhouse gas emissions and identify energy-reduction practices.

Nursery growers can pick up a copy of the guide at the Oregon Association of Nurseries booth at the Farwest show at the Oregon Convention Center in Portland through Aug. 28. The convention center is at 777 NE MLK Jr. Blvd.

The Farwest Show is open noon to 6 p.m. Aug. 26 and 27, and noon to 4 p.m. Aug. 28.
