Oregon lawmaker tells Europeans to butt out

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) -- Oregon state Senate Minority Leader Ted Ferrioli says he doesn't need any advice from foreigners about protecting wolves.

He sent a blunt reply to a South African singer living in Greece, Louise du Toit, when she wrote him about keeping wolves on Oregon's endangered species list.

The Republican from John Day in eastern Oregon said input from European Union residents made no difference to him. He added that perhaps he should be writing EU ministers to stop bailing out Greece because he said it has become a "haven for morons."

"Go away," he added.

The Oregonian reports wolf advocates from around the world are demanding an apology. Ferrioli says he's ignoring them.

He favors legislation to remove wolves from the state endangered species list.
