Animal disease traceability rules delayed
Updated: Tuesday, January 29, 2013 4:54 PM

The USDA announced Dec. 31 that it was unable to publish its new rules on animal disease traceability by the requested date -- Dec. 28 -- but the rules will likely be published the first week of January.

Washington state veterinarian Leonard Eldridge said that will push the effective date back into early March, but there should be no surprises.

"It doesn't contain anything we haven't been talking about," he said.
