CASH SOFT WHITE WHEAT

Pacific Northwest: Bids for U.S. 1 Soft White Wheat, delivered by unit trains and barges to Portland during January ended the reporting week on Thursday, Jan. 10, as $8.2950-8.45, mostly $8.36, mixed, from one cent lower to five cents per bushel higher compared to Jan. 2 bids for January delivery of $8.3050-8.40, mostly $8.3725. There were no white club wheat premiums for nearby delivery. One year ago bids for U.S. 1 Soft White Wheat and white club wheat for January delivery were $6.10-6.30, mostly $6.25. Nearby bids for U.S. 1 Soft White wheat began the reporting week on Jan. 3 at mostly $8.3125, rose to mostly $8.3650 on Jan. 7, and to mostly $8.3950 on Jan. 8, before falling to mostly $8.3675 on Jan. 9. Jan. 10, the reporting week's close, bids moved slightly lower again to mostly $8.36. There were no new confirmed export sales of white wheat this week. Forward month bids for soft white wheat were as follows: February $8.3450-8.55, March $8.3950-8.55, April $8.4350-8.55 and May $8.4350-8.56. One year ago, forward month bids for soft white wheat were as follows: February $6.25-6.35, March $6.34-6.40, April $6.36-6.40 and May $6.38-6.40.

Outstanding U.S. white wheat export sales as of Jan. 3, for the marketing year beginning June 1, 2012, and ending May 31, 2013, totaled 1219.5 thousand MT compared to 1256.6 thousand MT on Dec. 27, 2012, and 1132.6 thousand MT one year ago. Outstanding white wheat export sales for the 2012-13 marketing year were to the following countries in 1000 MT: Japan 277.0, South Korea 167.0, Egypt 165.0, Philippines 163.0, Thailand 62.5, China (Main) 55.5, Yemen 50.0, Nigeria 30.4, Taiwan 18.2, Vietnam 2.6, Canada 2.1, Mexico 1.8, Burma 1.5, Malaysia 1.5, Hong Kong 1.2 and total unknown 220.2. Accumulated white wheat export shipments as of Jan. 3, in 1000 MT for the 2012-13 marketing year, totaled 2587.3 compared to 2965.5 one year ago.

Outstanding U.S. barley export sales as of Jan. 3, for the marketing year beginning June 1, 2012, and ending May 31, 2013, in 1000 MT, totaled 1.1 compared to 1.1 on Dec. 7, 2012, and 0.0 one year ago. Outstanding barley export sales for the 2012-13 marketing year in 1000 MT were to the following countries in 1000 MT: Japan 0.8 and Taiwan 0.3. Accumulated barley export shipments as of Jan. 3, were 120.2 thousand MT compared to 82.6 one year ago.

COARSE FEEDING GRAINS

Bids for U.S. 2 Yellow Corn delivered to Portland in single rail cars were $293-294.25, $3.25 to $4.50 per ton higher than Jan. 2 bids of $289.75. Bids for U.S. 2 Yellow Corn truck delivered to the inland feeding areas of Yakima, Wash., and Hermiston, Ore., were $287.75-297.75, $3.50 to $4 per ton higher than Jan. 2 noon bids of $284.25-293.75. Bids for U.S. 2 Heavy White Oats for January delivery held steady with Jan. 2 noon bids at $265.
